Community Coffee Cash for Schools: Please clip and collect Proofs of Purchase from all your Community Coffee products. This is how we give our STM teachers their classroom startup money each school year. Mrs. Holder was able to get class sets of dry erase boards with markers and erasers, clocks for teaching time, and reading trackers - all purchased with Community Coffee funds! Send Proofs of Purchase to your child’s homeroom teacher or the front office any time of the school year.

DISEASE OF THE WEEK: Influenza, or flu. Symptoms are similar to other upper respiratory viruses and include: fever, chills, body aches, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, fatigue, headache, congestion or runny nose, nausea/vomiting, and diarrhea. Please follow your doctor’s recommendations for returning to school. Please keep students home until contagious symptoms and fever have subsided for 24 hours. Siblings that do not have symptoms/ test negative do not have to stay home.
UNIFORMS NEEDED IN FIRST AID: Uniforms are kept in the nurse’s office for students that may need a change of clothes. Please wash and return borrowed uniforms. We are currently in need of the following:

Pastalaya Dinners: Festival season kicks off with the pastalaya fundraiser this Sunday, February 16th! Food Collection Sunday: STM Church accepts donations of canned goods and staples every third Sunday of the month. Please consider bringing food donations this weekend to any Mass – place items in the storage bench in the back of the church. Thank you for your generosity!
Divine Mercy Novena: STM’s nine-week Divine Mercy Novena begins next week. Mark your calendar and plan to pray with us after the 6 p.m. Mass on Tuesdays, February 18 and 25; March 11, 18, and 25; and April 1, 8, 15, and 22 (no novena on Mardi Gras Tuesday).
Sacramental Prep Meeting: Second grade parents: mark your calendar for a First Eucharist prep on Wednesday, February 19, at 6:30 p.m. in the activity center. Attendance of one parent is required. If you have any questions, please contact Bridget Day in the church office at 225-275-3940.
St. Joseph’s Altar: The time for Catholics to honor St. Joseph with an altar offering love, labor and sacrifice is drawing near, and this year, St. Thomas More Parish is building an altar! Volunteers are needed to cook/bake, set up and decorate the altar, and clean up. A vast array of statues, prayer cards, candles and baked items will be needed. Plan to visit STM’s St. Joseph Altar on Wednesday, March 19. Join us for 12 p.m. Mass and the blessing of the altar which follows. The St. Joseph Altar will be in the activity center meeting room 3 and will be open to the public from 1 to 5 p.m. VOLUNTEER LINK: stmbr.org/news/altar
St. Michael High School MP3: 6th, 7th, and 8th graders are invited to MP3 (Music, Prayer, Praise, Play) on Friday, February 21. This evening of fun and faith is for students throughout the Diocese. MP3 gives students a prayerful and safe place to be with friends as well as provides an opportunity to hear different speakers and engage in adoration and reconciliation. The cost is $10 per student (paid at the door). Click here to register.
Youth Gathering: Calling 5th-8th grade STM parishioners! Come join us in the Activity Center on Friday, March 14, for fun, friendship, and faith. The afternoon will begin at 3:15 p.m. and will end at 4:25 p.m. Pick up begins at 4:30 p.m. Guardians will park and come get your child from the Activity Center. Snacks will be provided. After our youth gathering, there will be a Lenten fish fry in the cafeteria and Mass and Stations of the Cross starting at 6 p.m. Click HERE to register.
