Family, Fans, and Fun Define STM Athletics

We have athletic programs for all students to enjoy. We believe that athletics teach students valuable lessons in sportsmanship, leadership, teamwork, and competition. Even better, STM has a proud tradition, making it even more fun to pull for your child’s team.

All athletes in grades 3-8 must have a completed athletic packet. Click here to download the STM athletic packet.

If you have any questions about the STM Athletics Program, please contact Athletic Director Ali Buchart at bucharta@stmbr.org.

When and Where to Sport Our Blue and Gold

Boys Basketball - November through February

While we may be far from dunking, there’s no doubt that STM Basketball is high-flying and quick to move the ball up and down the court. Our coaches are committed to teaching the game and preparing our teams to play their best in tournaments, in our gym and any gym.

Go to our school's Facebook page to find the Live Stream event pages for each of our home games.

Should you have any questions, please contact Ali Buchart.

Cheerleading

Take school spirit to new heights as part of the cheerleading squad. At STM, there’s a lot to be proud of, so get fired up, tell other teams to bring it on, and rally the school together under our three letters.

We have three cheerleading squads – third and fourth grade, fifth and sixth grade, and seventh and eighth grade. Tryouts are not required for any of the three squads.

The third and fourth grade squad cheers at home and away football games. The fifth and sixth grade squad cheers at home and away football games. While both fifth and sixth graders cheer at the football games, only the sixth grade cheerleaders cheer at home CSAL girls and boys basketball games. The seventh and eighth grade squad cheers together at home and away football games as well as home CSAL girls and boys basketball games.

The 7th and 8th grade squad participates in a variety of other events throughout the year such as summer cheer camp, a Christmas or Mardi Gras parade and at school assemblies (like Red Ribbon Week) and pep rallies.

Cross Country - August through October

Students in Grades 5-8 are invited to join the Cross Country Team in the fall to develop skills and stamina through long-distance running. Student athletes work toward personal records (PRs), always pushing themselves and teammates to be the best they can be. Students compete individually and as a team.

Should you have any questions, please contact Jason Hugenroth.

Football - August through first week of November

Lace up, take the field, and wear the STM on your helmet with pride. STM Football knows a thing or two about touchdowns, so join the football team, learn the Xs and Os, and compete with area schools. And parents, our friendly community is close-knit, so you’ll enjoy the weekend game day experiences, too.

Should you have any questions, please contact Ali Buchart.

Girls Basketball - August through October

It’s so much more than shooting hoops. Girls basketball is fast-paced and competitive so there will be no shortage of excitement at game time. Learn the fundamentals, play against other schools in the area, and take your best shot at winning the big trophies at local tournaments.

Should you have any questions, please contact Ali Buchart.

Swimming - August to October

Students in grades 5–8 are invited to dive into our swim program! Our team competes in 3–4 fun meets each season at Crawfish Aquatics, usually on Fridays or Saturdays. Practices take place at Lake Sherwood Club in Lake Sherwood Acres, where we aim to meet 2–3 times per week. We keep things flexible, so swimmers can balance practice with their other activities. This is a great chance to improve your strokes, build confidence in the pool, and be part of a supportive team!

Should you have any questions, please contact Ali Buchart.

Tennis - September and October

Students in grades 5-8 will be able to participate in tennis. Come be part of our tennis team! We practice at two great locations: Sundays at Tara Tennis & Swim Club and Thursdays at BREC’s Independence Park. Throughout the season, players will compete in exciting matches on Wednesdays and Saturdays, giving everyone plenty of opportunities to grow, compete, and have fun. Whether you’re new to the game or already love tennis, this program is a great way to improve your skills, stay active, and be part of a team!.

Should you have any questions, please contact Ali Buchart.

Track and Field - February through May

Students in grades 5–8 can join our exciting Track & Field program! We’ll practice at Broadmoor High School, where athletes can train in a variety of events — from sprints and distance running to relays, jumps, and throws. Practices are designed to help students build strength, improve speed, and develop new skills, all while having fun with their teammates. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or just looking to try something new, Track & Field is a great way to challenge yourself and be part of a supportive team!

Should you have any questions, please contact Ali Buchart.

Volleyball - March through May

We are excited to offer co-ed intramural volleyball for boys and girls in 3rd and 4th grade this year. Games will be played on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings in March and April. We will schedule 6-8 games for the kids and mix in practices as well. The combining of grade levels will depend on the number of students who sign up from each grade. Coaches will be former volleyball players and parent volunteers who will focus on the basics of volleyball. The program will be led by Ms. Kimberly Ashmore, an STM alum and former volleyball coach here at STM. More information on practices and game formats will be sent out after registration closes.

Volleyball is offered for girls in grades 5-8. Developmental volleyball is for grade 5 only, while grades 6-8 are at the varsity and junior varsity levels.

Should you have any questions, please contact Ali Buchart.
