A HUGE thank you for your support of our Scholastic Book Fair! This year was our most successful yet, with more than 4,000 books sold. Every book purchased earns rewards for our school.
Thank you to all who have donated to this year's Annual Fund! This year our goal is to raise $75,000 to continue to improve the safety of our campus by modernizing our camera security system, and we still need your support. Please consider a financial gift to help us improve safety for all students, faculty, staff and visitors to our campus. To give online, you may go to stmbr.org/annualfund or Venmo @STMBRschool. To pay by check, please drop by the school office or mail to: St. Thomas More Catholic School Annual Fund, 11400 Sherbrook Dr., Baton Rouge, LA 70815. Please call the school office at 225-275-2820 if you need assistance.
Help us spread the word! Applications are OPEN for new students for the 2023-2024 school year. Let your friends and family know we are accepting applications for new students going into PK3 through 8th grade at stmbr.org/apply.
Also, please invite prospective new families you know to our annual Open House on Tuesday, January 17. We will have continuous tours from 4 to 6 p.m. Administrators, several of our teachers and staff members, and student guides will be on hand to conduct tours of our campus. Prospective new families should RSVP at stmbr.org/openhouse.
Public and Permanent: Motivate Responsible Use of Technology & Prevent Digital Abuse! Parents of students in grades 6 through 8 were invited to a presentation at St. Michael High School on responsible use of technology by Richard Guerry, a nationally known speaker, who always has good information for his audiences about the sometimes confusing world of technology. The information is relevant and helpful to educators and parents and can lead to valuable discussions with students. Thanks to the St. Michael High School Home and School for sponsoring this event. Note: It is highly recommended the videos are previewed before showing them to any child under 13.

Last year, STM earned more than $2,000 through the Community Coffee Cash for Schools program! Please collect and save Proofs of Purchase from Community Coffee products and submit them to the school office or to your child's homeroom teacher. Through this program, STM earns money to support the education of our children. We will count the labels and track the amount collected by each homeroom over the Christmas break, so start (or keep on!) bringing them in!
The St. Thomas More Student Council has been active in boosting school spirit and encouraging school and community service during the first few months of the school year.
The executive officers of the 2022-2023 STM Student Council are Marlei Franklin, president; Vanessa Tabony, secretary, Emerson Cooper, vice president, and Gwendolyn McDermott, treasurer.
On Monday, November 28, students may wear violet socks and violet bows to recognize the start of the liturgical year and the beginning of Advent.
Forms for Preschool speech screenings will go home on Monday, November 28 and can be brought back any time before December 2. Preschool parents will also receive an email regarding speech screenings.
For complete STM dress code policies, see pages 24-28 in the STM 2022-2023 Parent-Student Handbook.
ATTENTION PRESCHOOL PARENTS: If your child goes to the doctor to get immunizations, please send a copy of the updated immunization record to school. You will be notified if your child’s immunization record will be expiring soon or has recently expired. We are required to keep up-to-date immunization records on file at the school.
ATTENTION FIFTH GRADE PARENTS: State law requires that students entering 6th grade receive booster shots after turning 11. These vaccines include: Tdap and Meningococcal. Please make an appointment with your health care provider after your child’s 11th birthday. Shot records can be faxed, emailed, or sent in an envelope to school. Our fax number is (225) 275-0376; Nurse Rochelle's email address is rochelle@stmbr.org. Shot records for entering 6th graders are due by AUGUST 1, 2023. If your child will not be 11 years old before starting 6th grade, please email Nurse Rochelle and make an appointment for shots the week following his/her birthday.
