2025-2026 Beta Club and Student Council Officers Elected

STUDENT COUNCIL:
Wednesday, August 20, was an exciting day for the students in Frey Hall. The Commons was filled with activity as candidates campaigned for student council offices. The candidates displayed creative campaign boards and distributed election materials to their fellow students. Those running for office delivered persuasive speeches to earn votes from their classmates. After the speeches, 6th, 7th, and 8th graders voted for the officers who will lead the student council for 2025-2026. The officers elected were Jack H., president; Charlie H., vice president; Emma D., secretary; and Amelie U., treasurer.

The student council provides service to the school and also promotes school spirit. Activities of the organization include operating the school-wide recycling program, organizing and carrying out pep rallies, presenting Halloween safety talks, carrying out St. Nicholas Day activities, sponsoring the Eagle Buck reward program, and serving as guides for Grandparents’ Days. The student council members look forward to an active and successful year. Sponsors for the organization are Mrs. Ashley Llaneza, Mr. Henry Walsh, and Mrs. Jo Samaha.

BETA CLUB: On Wednesday, August 27, our Beta Club members elected their 2025-2026 officers. This year's officers are: Reagan R., president; Ryleigh J., vice president; Anna Claire J., secretary; Giuliana R., chaplain; and Drewe H., reporter.

Beta Club is an academic honors program with a strong emphasis on leadership and community service open to our 7th and 8th graders. Students must have a 3.2 GPA to be invited to join. If the invitation is accepted, the member will attend a monthly service meeting. Beta Club members serve our school, community, and nation. They participate in Operation Christmas Child each year by packing shoeboxes for children around the globe. Sponsors for the club are Mrs. Tracy Gaspard, Mrs. Jennifer Guidry, Mrs. Leigh Holder, and Mrs. Sara Wisdom.

Student ID Badges

At Back to School Night earlier this month, we mentioned our new procedure regarding student IDs, which were delivered to STM this week. Students will wear their IDs badges and lanyards during the school day. Teachers will distribute IDs and lanyards to students each morning and collect them at the end of each school day. If a student breaks the lanyard, please do not replace it at home. Students will bring their broken lanyard to the school office for a replacement. A fee may be charged for a damanged lanyard. The cost to replace a lost ID badge is $10; the cost to replace a lost lanyard is $5.

September Service Project - Sock It to Me!

Each month, our school community will participate in a service project to help the needy. For our September project, we are asking for donations of new socks for the Baton Rouge Parents Magazine Sock It to Me! drive. Socks are among the most needed items at shelters. The vision is to put new socks that provide warmth and protection on the feet of men, women, and children who are in need. Socks can be brought to STM through September 15. Collection boxes are placed throughout campus for students to drop in new socks. Thank you for your generosity!
