2023 Distinguished Graduates and Clergy to be Honored

The Catholic Schools Office of the Diocese of Baton Rouge will kick off Catholic Schools Week on January 30 with its annual awards dinner at the Renaissance Baton Rouge Hotel to honor Distinguished Graduates and Distinguished Catholic School Clergy.

ROBBIE OLIVIER: ST. THOMAS MORE 2023 DISTINGUISHED GRADUATE
Robbie Olivier, STM Class of 1992, will be recognized as our Distinguished Graduate. We chose to honor Robbie because of his contribution to the Baton Rouge and St. Thomas More communities. He made the decision to continue to support STM by entrusting to us his most important thing in the world: his children! He is the president and CEO of Sigma Engineers & Constructors, Inc. Robbie is always willing to give of his time, talent, and treasure.

STM PASTOR FR. MICHAEL ALELLO: 2023 DISTINGUISHED CATHOLIC SCHOOL CLERGY
If you have been to our school Masses, you have seen how Fr. Michael engages the children through questions and storytelling to make Bible messages relevant to them. He spearheaded the 2021-2022 renovation of STM Church and the church office building. He guides STM office personnel in long- and short-term financial matters and demonstrates faithful stewardship of our internal and external resources.

STM PRINCIPAL ASHLEY MCDANIEL: ST. JOSEPH'S ACADEMY 2023 DISTINGUISHED GRADUATE
STM Principal Ashley McDaniel, a 1988 graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy, will be recognized as her alma mater’s Distinguished Graduate.

Mrs. McDaniel began her teaching career in 1996 at D.C. Reeves Elementary School in Ponchatoula, where she was a special education teacher. In 2000, she accepted a job teaching fourth grade at STM. Two years later, she joined the administrative team as vice principal and was named principal in 2021.

“Catholic education is a gift to all who receive it,” Mrs. McDaniel said. “In a Catholic school environment, you get superior academic rigor and co-curricular exposure as you develop your faith life.”
