It is the policy of STM that all tuition and fees balances must be current prior to final exams/tests. Parents will be notified if a student is to remain home on examination days if an account is not current. Payments made toward delinquencies after Monday, May 15 must be paid by cash, cashier’s check or money order to be deemed received by STM, so the student will be allowed to take exams. For tuition balances, please refer to your FACTS account. Further questions can be directed to Michelle Fontenot, Business Manager, at email@example.com.
Registration for STM 2023 Summer Camp closes on May 19. Camp is open to STM students only, who are entering grades PK4 through 6 for the 2023-24 school year. For details and to register, go to stmbr.org/summer23.
Parents, please stop by the First Aid/Nurse’s office before May 24 if your child has medical supplies there this year. Students are not allowed to pick up any remaining medication. Orthodontic supplies or extra contacts/glasses may be taken home by students any time on or before the last day of school. All medications and supplies that are not picked up by Friday, June 2 will be discarded. Nothing will be kept at school for the following year.
The state of Louisiana will require Hepatitis A vaccinations for K-8 grades beginning in the fall of 2023-24. A complete Hepatitis A series is two vaccines given 6 months apart. If your child has not received any Hepatitis A vaccines, please make an appointment to begin this series. If your child has received one Hepatitis A vaccine, please follow up at 6 months to complete the series. The vaccine will be abbreviated Hep A on your child’s immunization record. Please do not confuse Hep A with Hepatitis B (Hep B) 3 shot series given in infancy, this is a different vaccine. If the first Hep A vaccine has been given and it is not yet time for the second vaccine, students will be allowed to attend school until the second vaccine is administered on schedule.
Please make note of these dates for the 2023-2024 school year:
For Extended Care fees and details, and to register, please go to stmbr.org/extendedcare23. Morning hours are 6:45 to 7:20 a.m.; afternoon hours are 3:15 to 5:30 p.m.
Students who are not picked up in afternoon carpool by 3:15 p.m. will be sent to Extended Care as a drop-in. If a student is not previously registered for Extended Care and is sent by the office (due to the office closing), the parent must register the child at that time and pay a fee. If your child is going home with another child in Extended Care, your child also must be registered. Please contact Extended Care Director Mrs. Gretchen Thibodeaux with any questions.
Certain STM events are designated for STM students only. Preschool Fun in the Sun Day and Field Day (K through 7th grade) on May 24 are two of these events. Due to safety and liability coverage, we cannot allow any other children or siblings, younger or older, to attend these events. Only students enrolled at STM may be present. There will be communication in Eagle News and from your child's teacher to specify which events are for STM students only. Thank you for your help and understanding in this matter.
As the end of the school year approaches, please be sure to load your child's school lunch account with enough funds to cover lunches through the end of the year. These prices do not include extra sale items. You must deposit additional money if you wish for your child to purchase extra sale items. The annual spring pep rally, sponsored by the Student Council, was held Friday, April 28. Fourth through 8th grade students attended the celebration, which honored STM spring athletic teams including volleyball, basketball, and track and field. Student Council officers Vanessa Tabony, Emerson Cramer, and Gwendolyn McDermott served as MCs for the event. Spokesmen for the 8th grade varsity teams included Cameron Burger, volleyball; Michael Mauk, basketball, and Annabelle Mathis, track and field. The highlight of the event was the traditional volleyball game played between the 8th grade basketball boys and the 8th grade volleyball girls. Coaches for the teams included Steven Nguyen for the volleyball team and head coach James Pendarvis and assistant coaches Luke Kisner and Cordell Saunders for the basketball team. The game was exciting and closely contested, but the girls stood victorious in the end. Additional entertainment included a “dance off” between games that featured some outstanding dance moves by our STM students. Adding to the spirit of the pep rally were the STM Cheerleaders and our Eagle mascot portrayed by both Anna Mire and Victoria Burger. The pep rally ended with the traditional “What Time Is It” cheer performed by all the pep rally participants and led by Sophia Harrison and Michael Mauk.
Please note STM school office summer hours. Outside of this availability, please call 225-275-2820 for an appointment.
This year, in an effort to be a 2023 Q-Baller, the St. Thomas More 6th graders raised money and will be donating the funds to the Joe Burrow Foundation. The JBF's primary focus is helping children with mental illness and those experiencing food insecurity as well as providing resources and support to the underprivileged and underserved in a variety of ways. Much of the Foundation's work is done in Ohio and the Baton Rouge area. We are very proud of this group of students!
