St. Thomas More must provide a safe environment for children and youth. We hold ALL adults who work with minors to a code of conduct that is Christ-centered and professional. The Safe Environment Program implemented by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Baton Rouge requires us to evaluate the background of all paid personnel and volunteers whose duties include ongoing, unsupervised contact with minors.
The Diocese of Baton Rouge has adopted a Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People. Anyone who wants to volunteer at St. Thomas More must be in compliance with this policy. ALL requirements must be met in order to volunteer.
Any parent/adult (18 and older) who would like to volunteer with children on the St. Thomas More campus must fill out the requirements as mandated by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Diocese of Baton Rouge. Click here for the forms that must be completed and submitted to volunteer at STM.
The Diocese of Baton Rouge is allowing us to resume pre-pandemic practices based on the current low rate of infection at this time! Click here to read the letter from Superintendent Melanie Palmisano. The STM administrative team will be working on plans for what this looks like throughout the 4th nine weeks.

Things we are working on:
The STM Dad and Daughter Dance (Grandfathers, Godfathers, Uncles ... ) is Saturday, April 2, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. in the STM Gym. Only STM students in grades K through 8 may attend. Appropriate attire is Sunday dress (no jeans or strapless dresses). A limited number of tickets is available! $75 per couple and $25 for each additional daughter. Go to stmbr.org/dance22 to purchase tickets!
Girls need to wear their skirt and banded shirt or jumper without the blouse, and boys wear shorts or long pants and shirt for homeroom picture retakes on this day.
St. Thomas More Catholic School seeks candidates for the position of 7th and 8th grade cheer coach. Interested candidates should submit completed application, resume and transcript to Ashley Schade at schadea@stmbr.org. Visit stmbr.org/careers to download the application.
5-8 Carpool - Thank you to the families in the 5-8 carpool line for moving to the Activity Center. We appreciate your flexibility. We ask those who end up first in line in the afternoon to wait for a teacher to flag you into the parking lot. We need buses to get on campus and bikers/walkers to get off campus before this line begins to move. Reminder: Please do not turn left into the Activity Center lot from Dartmoor.
Teacher Parking - With the church parking lot closed, teachers have also had to shift areas for parking. Many will park in the area near Junior High. We ask if you are picking up from a club meeting that you leave spaces between the cars. This way, if a teacher needs to get out, the cars can move forward or back up if needed to let that teacher out quickly.
Extended Care Pick Up - Extended care pick up begins at 3:15 p.m. It is very important to wait until 3:15 p.m to arrive on campus as the new pick up location is also the grades 1-4 pick up line for carpool. We do not finish this carpool line until 3:15 p.m. on most days.
Visitors to Campus - When you come to campus to pick up a child or drop something off, please pull up to the front main office doors and parallel park. If you have business on campus that will take some time, please only use the parking spots nearest the playground. Again, everyone's flexibility during this time is appreciated as we work together to assist in the beautiful church renovation that we will all enjoy very soon.

Uniforms Needed in First Aid: Girls undershorts (pull on shorts worn under skirts and jumpers) are needed, especially in all adult sizes. We still need uniforms with the new logo, so any uniform shirts or sweatshirts/sweatpants that you would like to donate are greatly appreciated!
Medications at school: Per our medication policy in the handbook, students should NEVER have medication in their possession on the school grounds, including over the counter medications. If a student is changing households, please do not drop medication off at school. Please make arrangements outside of school for these medications to be transferred. Nurse Rochelle can administer medications to students if physician paperwork is completed in advance and all medication policy criteria are met. A parent or guardian may come to school to administer medications if needed during the school day.

This Lent, our STM community will participate in Catholic Relief Services Rice Bowl, a program that invites us to reflect on the challenges of global hunger — and our Gospel call to care for our global human family. Seventy-five percent of your donation supports CRS work around the world, and 25 percent of gifts stay in our Diocese for hunger and poverty alleviation efforts.
Your child received a Rice Bowl at school. It is a wonderful way to engage our children in almsgiving throughout Lent. For example, children can earn donations by helping with household chores.
Rice Bowls will be collected on Monday, April 11, so stay tuned to learn more.
Visit crsricebowl.org to watch videos of the people and communities you support through your Lenten gifts to CRS Rice Bowl. Thank you for participating in CRS Rice Bowl with your family!

The Student Council sponsored Eagle Buck Reward Day on Tuesday, March 15, for students who had received Eagle Bucks from teachers and/or staff members. Eagle Bucks are given to Junior High students to recognize positive behavior and achievements in and out of the classroom. Students are able to "cash in" their Eagle Bucks for rewards such as wearing alternate dress, having lunch outside with a friend, having a break on the playground equipment, and enjoying treats such as candy and doughnuts. Junior High students will have the opportunity to participate in one more Eagle Buck Day during the month of May.
Help us spread the word! We are accepting new student applications for PK3 through 8th grade for the 2022-2023 school year at stmbr.org/apply.
Pending approval by the Diocese, our first day of school will be Tuesday, August 9, 2022.
Please make sure your children bring their water bottles every day to stay hydrated. There has been an increase of students coming to the office for a disposable cup for water. We are still not able to use water fountains at this time. Students are able to refill their water bottles throughout the day at filling stations.
Even though families are receiving free lunch this year, we need families that qualify to fill out the application for free and reduced lunch. Our understanding is that this could affect your your future status in the program if this is not filled out. Please click below and take a moment to complete the form. Thank you!

Students who are not picked up in afternoon carpool will be sent to Extended Care as a drop-in. If a student is not previously registered for Extended Care and is sent by the office (due to the office closing), the parent must register the child at that time and pay a fee. If your child is going home with another child in Extended Care, your child also must be registered. Please contact Mrs. Gretchen Thibodeaux with any questions about Extended Care.
