There's still time to give! In the Catholic tradition of stewardship, we invite you to prayerfully consider supporting the St. Thomas More Catholic School 2023-2024 Annual Fund. This year, our goal is to raise funds to support six areas:
WAYS TO GIVE
Please call the school office at 225-275-2820 if you need assistance.
Your annual contribution is more than a gift; it is an investment in our students that will have a lasting impact. Thank you for your support!
Due to an increase in water spills that cause damage to items on campus, students may not bring tumbler-style cups with a straw opening to school. Students should bring water bottles with screw-on tops that provide a tight seal. Pop-up, built-in straws are permitted in these types of bottles.
Do you have a child entering school next year? Do you know a family looking for a school? Applications for new students are open at stmbr.org/apply. We have limited availability for qualified candidates. Please note: Applications are for new students only; current students will reenroll for 2024-2025 in January.
Please click here to view the December lunch menu.
On Monday, December 4, students may wear violet socks and bows to recognize the start of the liturgical year and the beginning of Advent. This is not an accessory day, i.e. socks and bows only.
Wednesday, December 6, is Wonderful Wednesday! All students are invited to wear their navy blue STM spirit shirts only with uniform bottoms. Go Eagles!
Please join our STM school choir in welcoming the Christmas season with a beautiful musical program on Thursday, December 14 at 6:30 p.m. in the church.
There will be no EBR bus service on December 18-19 or January 4-5.
Thank you to Joseph Cleaners (10060 Florida Boulevard) for donating tablecloth cleaning services to STM school. We appreciate your generosity! Please consider patronizing this STM parishioner-owned local business.
Diseases of the week: We are seeing a few cases of influenza (flu) and Covid. Other illnesses are also circulating, like strep throat, stomach virus, fever virus, and upper respiratory viruses. Please remember our policy for students not to return to school until 24 hours after fever has stayed below 100.0 without medication, and 24 hours after vomiting / diarrhea have resolved.
Tracking illnesses: Nurse Rochelle keeps track of the number of cases of flu, strep, Covid, and other contagious illnesses. Please email rochelle@stmbr.org if your child is diagnosed with a contagious illness.
Once an Eagle, always an Eagle! We are working to create an active alumni network. Click here to fill out our alumni contact form. Please share the link with your STM Alumni family and friends! We appreciate your time and consideration in sharing your information with us!
Thankful Thursday: Thank you to our parents in grades 1 and 7 for hosting Thankful Thursday on November 16! Our faculty and staff enjoyed all of the delicious treats!
Teacher Favorites: Sending a “Thank You” to your child’s teachers for all the love, care, and dedication that they put into teaching your child can be easy! Whether you need ideas for Christmas, Teacher Appreciation Week or an unexpected treat, we have your child’s teacher favorites! Click here to view the list. For questions about teacher favorites, contact Home & School Faculty Board Member Sara Wisdom at wisdoms@stmbr.org.
Community Coffee Cash for Schools: Please continue collecting Proofs of Purchase from all your Community Coffee products. Funds collected go directly to STM teachers for their classrooms! Save your own Proofs of Purchase, plus consider posting this easy ask flyer at you or your family’s places of work or your STM family-owned local places of business. Send Proofs of Purchase to your child’s homeroom teacher or the front office – whichever is easier! For questions about Community Coffee Cash for Schools, contact chairs Colleen Bryant and/or Beth Morgan.
Home & School is a home-school partnership involving collaborative working relationships between families and schools and we look forward to working with you! Go to stmbr.org/hsa23 for information about STM Home and School events and committees, and to sign up as a volunteer. Please note that to take advantage of these volunteer opportunities you must be Child Protection Certified.
For the STM Athletics full calendar of events, go to stmbr.org/school/athletics.
TRACK AND FIELD COACHES NEEDED - STM Athletics needs coaches for our Track and Field teams. Weekday practices are at Broadmoor High School from February through the end of April, and track meets are usually on weekends in March and April. Please contact Athletic Director Ryan Empson if interested at empsonr@stmbr.org. All coaches must be Child Protection Certified.
Advent Begins This Weekend: Advent is the Catholic liturgical season of preparation leading up to Christmas Day. Prayerfully journey through Advent with us by picking up a copy of the 2023 reflection booklet, A Time for Holy Listening, in the back of the church – one per family please.
