DISEASES OF THE WEEK: We are seeing cases of influenza (flu) and strep.
- FLU: Symptoms of flu include: fever, sore throat, cough, body aches, malaise, headache, stomach upset and runny nose. Prescription medications can shorten the duration of symptoms, but should be started within 48 hours of symptom onset.
- STREP THROAT: Symptoms of strep include: fever, red/sore throat, headache, rash, swollen lymph nodes, and nausea/vomiting. Strep is caused by bacteria and can be diagnosed with a throat swab and is treated with antibiotics. Students must be on antibiotics for 24 hours AND free of fever to return after a strep diagnosis.
- Please remember our policy for students not to return to school until 24 hours after fever has stayed below 100.0 without medication and severe cough or fatigue have resolved, and 24 hours after vomiting/diarrhea have resolved.
HEALTHY SCHOOL SNACKS: We know how important it is to keep our students fueled and focused throughout the school day!
