We have noticed an increase in students bringing toys from home to school. While we understand that many of these items are special to our students, they can become a distraction during the school day. We would hate for a cherished item to become lost or damaged. To help keep our focus on learning, please keep toys and personal items at home unless they are specifically requested by the teacher for a classroom activity. We appreciate your support!

The Protect Young Eyes team recently visited STM faculty/staff, parents, and students in K through 8th grade. It was a powerful and engaging time of learning. If you missed the live talk, Protect Young Eyes founder Chris McKenna has provided an 11-minute, shortened but jam-packed version of some of their best digital safety tips. You can find it here on their YouTube channel. Don’t hesitate to visit PYE any time for answers to your digital questions! We’re pleased to partner with Chris and his team on these critical issues.

Spring Allergies: Spring allergy season is the time of year when the pollen count is at its highest, usually March through May. Allergy symptoms vary from mild to severe and include: itchy, red, watery eyes; sneezing; rashes/hives, itchy skin; and respiratory symptoms/wheezing. If your child suffers from seasonal allergy symptoms, now is the time to start taking daily preventative medications like antihistamines, eye drops, and inhalers (if prescribed). Installing new air filters in your car and home and washing your hands, face, and clothing after going outdoors is also helpful. Ask a physician for treatment recommendations if symptoms are persistent. An allergy specialist can help those that have asthma or suffer from severe symptoms during allergy season.
Pills on Campus: Per our handbook policy, students may not be in possession of prescription or OTC medications on campus. If your child takes daily medication at home, please supervise the administration of the medication(s). Please email or call Nurse Rochelle if you have any questions about medication administration during the school day. rochelle@stmbr.org or 225-272-3072.
