STM Christmas Card Contest

Although Halloween and Thanksgiving are still ahead of us, it’s already time for the talented artists at STM to start creating their Christmas card designs!

One winning design will be selected from all entries to appear on the front of STM’s official Christmas card. The card will be printed and mailed to our friends and our diocesan schools, making this a wonderful opportunity for our students to share their creativity and Christmas spirit with our community.

Contest Guidelines:

Art supplies are available from Mrs. Oufnac if needed. Students who are interested in participating or would like additional information should have their parents email Mrs. Oufnac at oufnacd@stmbr.org.

We look forward to seeing the creativity and Christmas spirit of our STM artists come to life.

STM Angel Tree is once again returning to STM to give students an opportunity to help the less fortunate in our community. In partnership with local nonprofits, the STM Angel Tree provides assistance to those in need through the purchase of Christmas gifts and/or gift cards.

On Wednesday, November 11, volunteers will be on campus to allow students to select angels. With your permission, your son or daughter will be able to choose from three different types of angel ornaments: gift angels, gift card angels, and prayer angels.

‍GIFT ANGEL: Each gift angel will describe a person in need (e.g., a 3-year-old boy) and ONE ITEM from that person's wish list (e.g., a toy truck). If you are uncomfortable with the gift item listed, please feel free to purchase an alternative, age-appropriate gift instead. Please note that “BIG TICKET” items, such as electronics, WILL NOT appear on the angels.

‍GIFT CARD ANGEL: Each gift card angel will list a store from which a gift card has been requested by a person in need. Simply purchase a gift card from the requested store in whatever denomination your family wishes to contribute.

‍PRAYER ANGEL: Each prayer angel will ask your family to pray for the less fortunate during the Christmas season.

After purchasing the gift, please wrap it in Christmas paper and attach the ANGEL ORNAMENT TO THE OUTSIDE so that the description can be read. For gift cards, simply attach the ANGEL ORNAMENT to the gift card.

Volunteers will be working morning carpool the week of November 30–December 4 to collect gifts and gift cards. You may also return gifts to volunteers at the back of church after weekend Masses from November 15–December 6.

‍All gifts and gift cards must be returned by December 6. Volunteers will deliver the gifts to our partner organizations the week before Christmas.

‍If you would like to give permission for your child to select an angel at school on Wednesday, November 11, please complete this Google Form by Monday, November 9.

‍
Thank you so much for supporting this mission of STM. If you have any questions or trouble with the form, please email mscampagna@cox.net.

During the Game Day festivities, 3rd-8th grade athletic teams were recognized and honored including the following: football, girls basketball, swim, tennis, and cross country. The cheerleaders led the crowd in cheers and chants throughout the event, and the dance team performed for the crowd. The highlight of the pep rally was the cheer from our championship cheer team of Evan R., Peyton T., and Jonathan S. and the mock football game played by the pep rally committee. Competitive games including “Put Out” and “Scooter Relays” were enjoyed by the crowd. The “ESTM Game Day” pep rally was a spirited and fun event enjoyed by 1st - 8th graders, which led to a winning Monday Night Football for our teams.

Nurse's Notes

Diseases of the month: Strep throat & stomach virus have been the most common illnesses in October.

Strep throat, or streptococcal pharyngitis. Symptoms of strep can mimic other illnesses, and include: fever, red/sore throat, headache, rash, swollen lymph nodes, and nausea/vomiting. Strep is caused by bacteria and can be diagnosed with a throat swab. Strep is treated with antibiotics.

Stomach virus is highly contagious, so we ask that you please keep students home for 24 hours after vomiting and diarrhea have stopped. When they do return to school, please send your child with a bland lunch until they can tolerate a regular diet.

Please remember our 24 hour illness policy: Students should be free of fever (<100.0 without the aid of medication), vomiting, diarrhea or other contagious symptoms for 24 hours prior to returning to school. Students diagnosed with Strep must be taking antibiotics for 24 hours before returning to school, even if no fever is present.
